Standard float glass is transformed into safety glass by a tempering furnace which heats the panel to around 700 degrees and then rapidly cools at various rates.
The product is toughened glass which breaks differently to standard float glass. Float glass breaks into dangerous shards where toughened safety glass breaks into small harmless fragments, thus becoming a lot safer.
Toughened safety glass is suitable for hot areas and is 5 times stronger than normal float glass, it has thousands of different uses including balustrade, shower screens, louvres, furniture, architectural glass, splashbacks, doors and windows for automotive, marine, domestic and commercial applications.
Glasstech premium toughened safety glass is produced to and complies with AS/NZS 2208 and AS1288 Grade 'A' Safety glass standards.
